Homemade Foot Soaks & Scrubs

Since the weather has been warming up here in the Valley, you’ve probably been putting your feet to work with outdoor activities like hiking Camelback Mountain or walking in the Desert Botanical Garden. While you’re having fun, your feet may become tired from the activities and could use some TLC (tender love and care).

So, take the time to show your feet some appreciation–and you’ll enjoy the relaxation too! We have some great, easy recipes for homemade foot scrubs and soaks that you can make with ingredients already in your kitchen. Scrubs are great for healing dry, severely cracked feet as they help remove dry skin and leave your skin feeling refreshed. Soaks help relax your feet and can be very cleansing.

Brown Sugar + Olive Oil Scrub

●1 tablespoon of olive oil

●1 tablespoon of brown sugar

●1 tablespoon of baking soda

Combine the olive oil, brown sugar, and baking soda in a bowl. Gently massage the mixture all over your feet for 1-2 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water after that.


Strawberry + Sugar Scrub

●3 strawberries, finely chopped

●½ cup of sugar

●1 tablespoon of olive oil

First chop the strawberries finely and mix with the sugar and olive oil in a bowl. Gently scrub the mixture onto the feet for about 2-3 minutes and let it stay on until it dries. Wash your feet with warm water afterwards.


Coconut + Salt Scrub

●½ cup of salt

●3 tablespoons of coconut oil

Combine the salt and coconut oil in a bowl. Next, scrub the mixture onto your feet for 1-2 minutes. Wash the scrub off with lukewarm water after that.


Mouthwash + Warm Water Soak

●3 caps full of mouthwash (such as Listerine)

●Warm water

First fill a basin or big bowl (big enough to soak your feet in) up halfway with warm water. Next, pour 3 caps full of mouthwash. Soak your feet in the solution for up to 25 minutes. This helps remove dirt and dead skin cells, giving your skin a renewed look.


Salt + Water Soak

●1 cup of Epsom salt

●Warm water

First, fill a basin or big bowl (big enough to soak your feet in) up halfway with warm water. Next, place the salt in the basin and stir until the salt is fully dissolved in the water. Soak your feet in the solution for 10-15 minutes. This foot soak is great for helping to eliminate foot odor, fighting fungus or ingrown toenails, and soothing dry skin.


Honey + Lemon + Apple Cider Vinegar Soak

●½ cup of honey

●1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar

●1 lemon, sliced

●Warm water

First fill a basin or big bowl (big enough to soak your feet in) up halfway with warm water. Add the honey and apple cider vinegar to the water and stir until dissolved. Place the sliced lemon in the solution and then soak your feet in the basin for up to 30 minutes. This soak is great for easing swollen feet, relaxing your muscles, and removing dead skin cells.
